London Gatwick train station will be upgraded by £150million and there will be changes to the number of trains between Gatwick Airport and London Victoria from 17 May.
So if you’re travelling to London via Gatwick Airport, expect fewer trains, so may have longer waiting times for the next train to central London.
The main changes are:
- There will be no Southern services between Brighton and London Victoria in off-peak hours. Passengers wishing to use this route outside peak hours can instead travel with the Gatwick Express. Southern’s Super Off-Peak and Kids tickets for £2 are eligible for this service, and the price of Gatwick Express tickets between London Victoria and Brighton will be equalised with the lower Southern fare.
- Gatwick Express services remain the same in the morning and evening rush hour. Outside these times, however, there are two trains running less per hour – although the trains that do run will have more carriages to provide extra capacity.
